Guided Experiences
Beyond the postcard — into the real Val d'Orcia
The Val d'Orcia rewards those who slow down. Our local guides — born in these hills, passionate about both the landscape and the films shot here — take small groups off the main tourist path to places and moments that most visitors never reach. Every experience is tailored, paced for photography and contemplation, and built around the light.

Gladiator Field at Golden Hour
Meet at Pienza at late afternoon and walk south along the ancient field path to Campo di Terrapille. Your guide shares the story of how Ridley Scott found this exact hillside and what he changed — and what he didn't. Arrive at the field as the sun drops toward Monte Amiata and the grain turns the amber it is on screen. Time for photography, silence, and the kind of view that makes it clear why this became the most recognisable landscape in world cinema.

Sunrise at Vitaleta & Terrapille
An early start (5:30am) rewards the dedicated photographer. First stop: the cypress avenue leading to Cappella di Vitaleta, where the low-angle morning light creates the image that appears on a million postcards. Then south to Campo di Terrapille as the valley mist clears and the wheat catches the first warm rays. Your guide positions you for the best angles and helps with camera settings. Return to Pienza for breakfast.

Val d'Orcia Deep Dive
A full day covering the valley's highlights: morning at Cappella di Vitaleta and Pieve di Corsignano, then the Gladiator Field at midday, Pienza for lunch and pecorino tasting, Bagno Vignoni for the thermal piazza in the afternoon, and a sunset stop at the SP146 viewpoint. Lunch and wine tasting included. Private car transfer available.
